St. Martin Island is a very popular tourist spot now. There are five tourist liners runs daily trips to the island. These are Shahid Sher Niabat, L T Kutubdia, Eagle, Keary Cruise and Dine, and Keary Sindabad.
The best time to visit St. Martin is the month of November and February. In the months of March and July, the tourists must have to keep an eye on the weather forecast. Since, the bad weather like cyclone can hit anytime in this territory. So, the March and July is the tourist off season.
St. Martin visitors have increased in the last five years. Tourists can find the endangered species like turtles here. Turtles nests in St. Martin. Corals are also seen in Narikel Jinjira.
The island can be visited in a day. It is about 8km long. In the time of high tide the island becomes about 5km.

The island exists only because of its coral base, so removal of that coral risks erosion of the beaches.

Overnight staying in St. Martins Island is really an exotic feeling where you will feel and listen the sound of sea. If you are lucky enough than you can spend the exotic moonlit night at St. Martins Island.

Cheera Dip is a part of St. Martins but divided during tides. You can go to Cheera-Dip by walking.  It will take about a half hour walk from St. Martins Island. In the Island you will find the Corals – living and dead all over the Island.

How to go to St. Martins Island:

From Teknaf several ferries a day cruise to the island in around two hours. Prices vary slightly depending on which boat company you use but average prices are Tk 500 to Tk 600 depending on class. Cabins are also available on some boats for s/d Tk 1500/2500. Most boats leave Teknaf around 9am and return around 3pm. Keari Sindbad (815 7647) runs the most reliable boats and is the only company to operate through the monsoon (boats depart around three times a week at this time of year but schedules are highly weather dependent).

Many tour companies and hotels in Cox’s Bazar run rushed day trips to the island for between Tk 12, 000 and Tk 13, 000.
